The Route
Event Schedule
Scrutineering & Documentation - 31 August 2025
The pre-event procedures start at the Gleneagles Hotel, where scrutineering and documentation will take place from mid-morning to early afternoon. This crucial day ensures that all vehicles and crews are prepared for the rally ahead.
Novices will have the opportunity to attend a briefing session, offering valuable insights and guidance before the Welcome Dinner. For those who prefer, there will be time to relax and enjoy the luxurious facilities of the Gleneagles Hotel, setting the tone for the exciting days to come.
Gleneagles to Pitlochry - 01 September 2025
The rally officially begins on the Monday morning, taking participants from Gleneagles to Pitlochry. This leg not only features the thrill of the open road with some great scenery but also includes the first distillery visit, where crews can immerse themselves in Scotland's rich whisky-making tradition.
The combination of driving and cultural exploration makes this a memorable start to the journey. We are planning whiskey tasting on the first night as we did in 2023 which will allow crews to glean some inside knowledge of the art of what to expect in the days ahead when looking to stock the drinks cabinets as we visit the number of distilleries on the route.
Pitlochry to Aviemore - 02 September 2025
The second leg of the rally takes the crews from Pitlochry to Aviemore, with multiple distillery visits along the route.
This leg highlights the scenic beauty of the Scottish Highlands of the Cairngorms National Park and all it royal connections while offering further opportunities to explore the art of whisky production.
Aviemore to Inverness - 03 September 2025
As the rally progresses, the third leg leads participants from Aviemore to Inverness. This promises more breathtaking scenery and challenging driving, the morning will be in the whiskey producing heartland of Speyside before the afternoon sees us crossing the A9 taking crews into the hills above Loch Ness in the heart of the Highlands.
The route showcases some of Scotland’s most picturesque landscapes, providing a perfect backdrop for the ongoing adventure.
Inverness to Isle of Mull - 04 September 2025
The fourth leg is one of the most anticipated segments of the rally, as crews make their way from Inverness to the Isle of Mull. This leg is filled with rugged coastal views as we make our way as linear as possible to the ferry crossing onto Mull.
The Isle of Mull offers a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural richness, making it a highlight of the Scottish Malts in 2025, with our local contacts making it an experience to be enjoyed by all and sundry for the last night of the event on the island.
Isle of Mull to Gleneagles - 05 September 2025
The final leg of the rally sees participants return from Isle of Mull to Gleneagles, culminating in the finish at the iconic Gleneagles Hotel where our journey started at the beginning of the week. Upon arrival, participants will be welcomed with a ceremonial finish, complete with a traditional Scottish piper, celebrating the successful completion of the rally. The event will conclude with the presentation of the Malt-themed Finishers Award, followed by traditional post-event celebrations and Gala Dinner, where crews can reflect on their journey and share stories with fellow participants.
In summary, the Scottish Malts 2025 offers a meticulously planned rally that showcases some of Scotland's best driving roads, distilleries, and scenic landscapes. The event is more than just a rally; it is an opportunity to forge new friendships, deepen one’s appreciation for Scottish culture, and experience the unique charm of Scotland’s malt whisky heritage.
