Since HERO-ERA launched it’s Economic and Environmental Impact Study of the Historic Motoring Industry last December and the formation of the HCVA, they have been working together to unify the industry to combat threat. Now things are starting to stir!
Both groups have been involved in extensive communication with industry and the media about the threats against, and opportunities for the Historic Motoring Industry. Their respective reports have produced good public awareness through excellent media coverage. This includes international recognition of the issues facing the industry through a national newspaper in France, Le Monde. You can read a selection of these by clicking on the relevant link below.
Now more than ever, the industry needs to take greater steps to create awareness and push for change. This is a growing industry that supports 113,000 jobs in the UK (Cebr/HERO-ERA Impact Study) a copy of which can be downloaded here. The news distribution to the media of the HERO-ERA Impact Study was covered by 60 outlets with a potential reach of 99.8 million people which included national newspapers. The 63 page report has been downloaded 380 times in 23 countries around the world by members of the public and media.
It is vital that the industry is nurtured and protected as this is a growing industry but it is under threat. One of the biggest threats is pollution and the perception that all historic vehicles are a major polluter when in fact the little used vehicles are but a spec on the meter due to limited usage.
However, the industry is working hard to counter any carbon emitted. The FBHVC are making strides in environmental policies whilst HERO-ERA are leading the way by ensuring all their activities from 2020 and in the future are carbon neutral. They are launching the new NET-HERO advanced footprinting and carbon offsetting programme to help the industry towards environmentally responsible driving. HERO-ERA are committed to using this footprinting and offsetting approach to ensure all its future rallies and operations are carbon neutral as well as making it available to others.
NET-HERO will be a dedicated platform giving historic and classic car enthusiasts plus the wider motoring community the opportunity to measure, engage, and offset their footprint. Please read the whole story by clicking on the link below.
