1938 AC 16/80 March Special (RHD)

Think Goodwood and drive a piece of history! This 1938 March Special vintage car has impressive lineage and tremendous ancestry as Goodwood founder and Brooklands racer Lord Freddie March commissioned the build of this AC 16/80 to his specification.

Just 23 examples were made of the AC 16/80 March Special, the bodies were bespoke made for Lord Freddie March in the mid to late 1930's when he was at the peak of his racing power. It was after the war that Freddie followed the dirt tracks around the Goodwood estate that were to form the Goodwood Racing track that witnessed so much racing history. From Sir Stirling Moss’ wins there to Sir Jackie Stewart’s inaugural F3 test in 1964, the track is legendary. Since its demise in the fifties, the circuit has been reincarnated by his son and the current Duke of Richmond and Gordon, Charles March.

Arguably one of the most handsome British sports cars made, this vehicle with the March name has taken class awards on the Summer Trial and Royal Automobile Club 1000 Mile Trial. As hardy as it is good looking, this vehicle was hired by Benno and Nina Britschgi in April 2015 to compete on the Icelandic Saga - it handled the gravel roads and sometimes icy conditions admirably.
